These estimates apply our rates to common pool sizes. They use the full interior surface, floor and walls together, and assume an average depth of 1.4 m for the 4 m pool and 1.5 m for the larger ones. A shallower pool costs less, and a deeper one costs more.

- 12 m × 6 m pool (126 m²): Marbelite roughly R56,700 to R88,200. Fibreglass roughly R75,600 to R107,100.

Work out your own pool's price
- Multiply the length by the width, then add twice the length and width together, multiplied by the average depth, all in metres. That gives the surface area. Multiply it by the rate for your chosen finish. For an 8 m by 4 m pool with a 1.5 m average depth, that is 32 plus 2 × 12 × 1.5, which comes to 68 m². At R450 to R700 per m² for Marbelite, that is the R30,600 to R47,600 shown above.

What drives the price of a repair
- What has failed and how big the fault is. A weeping union costs far less than a crack in a deep floor.
- How hard it is to find. A leak at the pump takes minutes to find. One in underground pipework or a deep wall takes longer.
- Access. Pipework under paving or behind landscaping takes more work to reach.
- Whether the pool must be lowered or emptied to reach the fault.

Fix and finish. The same pool relined in fibreglass, with its cracks repaired first. Fibreglass resurfacing comes to roughly R40,800 to R57,800, and the crack repair is added once we have seen the shell. Quote platforms typically estimate resurfacing with repairs at about R55,000 for a 20,000-litre pool and R75,000 for a 9 m by 5 m pool.
The full renovation. The same pool with a new waterline mosaic, new coping, a variable-speed pump and a shallower floor. Start with the resurfacing price and add each extra. The mosaic alone is around R9,500 for an 8 m by 4 m pool at market starting prices. Most full renovations land well above the resurfacing figure, and your quote shows the total line by line.
How to budget a renovation
Separate the must-do work from the nice-to-have. The shell and the finish come first, because everything else sits on them. Extras such as heating, automation or paving can often be done now or added later. Tell us your priorities at the assessment, so the quote reflects them.

Be cautious about a price far below the others with little detail behind it, a quote that skips the inspection, or one built on paint or epoxy. The cheapest quote is rarely the cheapest result, because a finish that fails costs you the job twice.

How to keep your pool costs down
- Fix leaks early. A leak wastes more water and puts more water into the ground every week, and the repair grows with it.
- Choose your finish by lifetime cost. Fibreglass costs more at the start but typically lasts 15 to 25 years against 10 to 15 for Marbelite. On the 68 m² example, Marbelite at about R39,000 over roughly 12 years works out near R3,250 a year, and fibreglass at about R49,000 over roughly 20 years works out near R2,450 a year.
- Do the jobs together. Mosaic, coping, depth changes and equipment are easiest to coordinate while the pool is already empty.
- Keep your water. We own our storage bladders, so there are no rental fees, and you avoid buying a full refill from the municipal supply. A 45,000-litre pool means 45 kilolitres of water.
- Keep the water balanced. Good water care helps any finish last, and the manufacturer of our Marbelite plaster says it is the secret to its longevity.
