Pool Owner’s Resource Center: Expert Advice & FAQs
Frequently Asked Structural Questions
Why does my pool have blisters (Osmosis)?
The Answer: Blisters occur when moisture is trapped behind the gelcoat. While material quality (like using Scott Bader resins) prevents this, long-term chemical imbalance—specifically low calcium levels—can pull water into the lining
Marbelite vs. Fiberglass: Which is better for the Limpopo heat?
The Answer: Both are excellent if installed correctly. Fiberglass offers better flexibility for shifting soils, while Marbelite (Cemcrete) offers a classic, stone-like aesthetic. In extreme heat (Polokwane/Makhado), we recommend UV-stabilized NCS Poolcoat for Fiberglass to prevent fading.
Technical Maintenance Tips
- Calcium Hardness: Keep your levels between 200–400 ppm. Low calcium is “hungry” water that eats your Marbelite and damages your Fiberglass.
- The 6-Day Rule: Never fill a new Marbelite pool early. The Cemcrete requires a 6-day damp-cure to reach its full 25 MPa strength.
